Oskar Blues update: Alabama, Chaka, 15th Anniversary

Chaka Belgian Ale label (Oskar Blues version with Sun King)

(Lyons, CO) – A team from Oskar Blues Brewery including Head Brewer Dave Chichura, Plant Manager Jim Waxweather, Beer Control Freak Jeremy Rudolf and show Co-Host, Oskar Blues’ “Gubna, Chris Katechis, appeared on Colorado Craft Beer Radio on Saturday to give a brewery update. Here is the latest…

The brewery is working on getting its beer into Alabama, hopefully by the end of the summer.

The brewhouse is running at full bore with 24-hour brew days 6 days a week. They turn out eight brews on those days.

Chaka Belgian Ale, the collaboration with Sun King, will debut at the Craft Brewers Conference in San Diego next week. Oskar Blues produced 80 barrels of the beer at its facility in Lyons. Half of that will go to Southern California and the other half will stay in Colorado. The beer was also brewed at Sun King in Indiana and will go on sale in that market soon as well. There may be another collaboration coming later in the year.

Speaking of collaborations, Oskar Blues has a phone call out to Foo Fighters for a collaboration beer idea. The Foo Fighters played a concert at Oskar Blues a while back. No word on developments though beer collaborations with musicians seems to be a trend picking up a bit of steam.

Got beef? The brewery has its own line of beef that will return on shelves this month. It debuted last fall.

Finally, per the brewery’s newsletter, Oskar Blues will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a party on April 28th. The brewery will release a 15th Anniversary Abbey Ale in 16 oz. cans though no specifics have been announced on availability outside of the event, if any.

  1. 6-24hr brew days turning 8 brews a week?! Either there’s a misprint or their brewhouse efficiency os not what it should be…
Regardless, great brew, and I say come to MI next…

  2. “They turn out eight brews on those days.” 8 brews * 6 days = 48 brews/week. Sounds like they have it dialed in pretty well.
