A case of “He said, she said” in Flat Earth Brewing founder’s departure

Got control?

In his post Williamson said, “We’ll it’s been an interesting ride, but I was just fired from Flat Earth this morning.” […] A spokesperson at the brewery declined to go into detail, but said that Williamson “has chosen to leave the company.”

  1. As I posted on reddit:

This kind of thing pisses me off. Just because you’re bitter, don’t claim you were “fired” unless you walked in and someone said “Hey, you’re fired.”

Couldn’t he have written something on Facebook that actually gave the real situation? I presume he was pressured to resign. So WRITE THAT! Don’t destroy any credibility you may have had by dramatizing the situation like an idiot. Why can’t anybody just be a freaking adult?

If you feel like you were treated unfairly, then lay out the actual events in the court of public opinion and revel in the support you receive. But if you have to lie or spin the truth in order to do it, you’re undermining any support you would have gotten from someone like me.

  2. So…is his wife still at the brewery? Sounds like it. That’ll be a fun place to work for awhile.

  3. I want the facts, Tucker. I don’t like to be lied to by either side. I don’t understand why everyone has to be so petty. Just lay out the facts for once.

If you’re a brewery looking to hire a new brewer, is your first choice the guy who complained on his Facebook about being “fired” when he actually negotiated his own departure from the company? Or do you want someone who either

    a. Had the tact to just say “We’re parting ways,” or
    b. Had the BALLS to say “I’m leaving, and here is the exact reason why.”

He’s clearly under no kind of “confidentiality agreement,” or he wouldn’t be posting about how he was fired. So he’s free to talk. Would “the truth” have been that hard to stick to?

  4. Kid Carboy Jr. but does Jeff owe you anything, facts or not? He said he was fired. Odd that someone would say they were fired if they were not. I have met the guy once and he seemed like a very nice guy. My understanding was that he ran out of money and in the end had to sell the brewery a while back. He then stayed on to brew. Not sure how much of that is true or just hearsay. Either way he is a good guy and there is no reason to get so irritated about this. I’m sure the truth will come out in time, then again there are always two sides to every story.

  5. “Kid Carboy Jr. but does Jeff owe you anything, facts or not?”

No, but what do you expect when a guy posts something like that in a public forum? Of course people are going to want answers if you want to make the situation public.

The things you mention in your above post (money situation) are all listed in the link provided above for A Perfect Pint.

  6. Exactly. Both Williamson and Flat Earth made public statements that were contradictory. Williamson said “They fired me.” Flat Earth said “No we didn’t.” All I want to know is who is lying to me. Or lying to me worse, anyway.
