(Watou, BELGIUM) – St. Bernardus is expanding its reach abroad in a new way and has brewed a beer to commemorate the event.
In August, the company will open a pub in Kanda, Tokyo, Japan. It will be run in partnership with a friend of the brewery, Ryohei Sugawara-san.
Per De Standaard, “‘The nation needs an authentic Belgian cafĂ©,’ says Marco Passarella, sales and marketing of Saint Bernardus. ‘Therefore we once brewed a special beer, St. Bernardus Tokyo. We have 175 hectoliters of brewing, partly for Japan and partly for our customers in Europe and the U.S..'”
The beer was brewed on February 3rd and 4th of this year. Below is more info on it from importer, D&V International.
About St. Bernardus Tokyo:
Intensely cloudy, unspiced, wheat ale brewed with the use of malted wheat. The specific yeast strain of St. Bernardus and the Golding and Magnum hops from our own hopfield next to the brewery give the St. Bernardus Tokyo a citrusy aroma, a solid but soft mouthfeel, a touch of acidity, and a very smooth and clean finish.
