Breckenridge Brewery may build new facility in Colorado after all

breckenridge brewery(Denver, CO) – Though he had no details to offer, Breckenridge Brewery Director of Marketing, Todd Thibault, told Colorado Craft Beer Radio last weekend that the company plans to stay put in Colorado.

Current law prevents the company from holding a license for a facility producing more than 60,000 barrels of beer while holding a license for operating a brewpub within state borders. In what now looks like a move to put pressure on Colorado officials, Breckenridge President, Ed Cerkovnik, told the Denver Business Journal last month that the company would look to build a new brewery on the East Coast as a result of failure to get new regulations passed that would lift such restrictions.

Thibault said on the program that the state liquor agency has conceded that there is a workaround with respect to licensing that would allow the brewery to expand its production in Colorado while still operating its brewpubs.

Breckenridge expects to produce close to 60,000 barrels of beer in 2012.
