While the Brewers Association expediently (we can only hope) comes up with criteria for what constitutes a “brewery-in-planning,” BeerPulse identified what could be three such breweries-in-planning with the same name.
Ohio.com’s Rick Armon reported last week that Portside Distillery plans to open a brewery soon in downtown Cleveland.
The team planning Port Side Brewery hopes to open a brewery in or near Jacksonville, Florida. The brewery noted on its Twitter account in early May that it was forced to change the name to Port Side Brewery from Twin Brothers Brewing.
Then there is Portside Brewing out of Central Florida, a duo of homebrewers “looking to make a business out of their hobby.” They have a bare bones website and a Twitter account that is dormant. They refer to themselves as a brewery-in-planning but it doesn’t look like they have got very far with it.
Finally, there is the beer known as Portside which is a registered trademark of Big Bay Brewing in Wisconsin.
Somewhere, a lawyer salivates.
