(Grand Rapids, MI) – Founders Brewing Company reported on Thursday that it had received two 440-barrel fermentors.
While the estimate of added annual brewing capacity would differ from brewery to brewery based on a number of factors, Smyuttynose recently estimated that its additional 200-barrel fermentor would add an extra 3,500 barrels of annual capacity. Either way, it’s a big boost for Founders.
Still, it won’t change the fact that the company is currently unable to brew more of certain beers due to a shortage in specialty hops. In a comment left on the Facebook post, Founders addressed why some haven’t been seeing All Day IPA year-round as originally intended.
“We’ve been dealing with hop shortages with All Day IPA this whole year–we’re doing what we can with what’s available and will be able to increase our production next year.”
The beer features Simcoe and Amarillo hops along with others that the company hasn’t disclosed.
