As a homebrewer, I can attest that this is exactly how it works.
I am offended! It is making us look like we are crazy, and don’t know what the f we are doing. I think this beer was paid/endorsed by the big BREWING companies…
I won’t be eating or drinking there again.
Go to BWW, get a beer in a frozen glass and order some god-awful tasting wings. Sounds like fun.
Hilarious! Unfortunately I have had a batch or two turn out like that…
I’ve never made bratwurst flavor beer before, but I think that just might have to happen. Love the star-san bubble snake taste test for time. I’ll have to try that too.
I got food poisoning from BWW once… have I ever gotten poisoning from my homebrews? Let us look at the Scoreboard:
Food Poisoning:
BWW – 1 Homebrewing – 0
will never go here due to the video. BWW you are not NICE!!! PAID for by the big THREE….
I thought it was hysterical, just wish it wasn’t for BWW because their wings and beer selection are terrible, but I laughed.
Pingback: Hoperatives - Wacky beer marketing gone terribly awry
They all should know their beers that they have on tap came from homebrewers… Shouldn’t take offense…
Shame on you Buffalo WIld Wings, I USED top look for you when I would come in to town BUT now I will NOT come back due to this video!
I agree, myself as a homebrewer this is how it works right? Im guessing one of the big three paid for this ad. And I can also say that I wont be eating any more of their “awesome” wings anymore.
We USED to eat at B’dubs several times a month. No longer – they’ve lost me as a customer.
I think it’s hilarious! I won’t go back because of the food and crappy service. But to flip out over a commercial? I just wish BWW put this much time and effort into customer service and decent recipes.
Are you guys really this offended by this? As a homebrewer in the craft beer industry I have to say I thought this was pretty comical, likely not endorsed by a big brewing co. It was obviously made by somebody with homebrew experience (based on the details i.e. handle on the carboy). Lighten up, if youre not going to eat at BWW it should be because it’s a crappy chain place, not because they reference an overzealous homebrewer in their commercial. These responses make homebrewers look silly, not some TV ad…
If you want to be a brainwashed goon, then go to Buffalo Wild Wings. If not, brew your own beer.
Ha Ha Ha, Homebrew is good Bdubs is good, I thought it was pretty funny. Way off, from an actual homebrew experience but funny! Well maybe not way off my second batch boiled over……:)
I hate bww but that’s funny! I’ve been a home brewer for 15 years and not ashamed to admit I’ve brewed a wretched batch or two. Let’s not get on a high horse, funny is funny.
I loved them when they were Buffalo, Wild, Wings, and Weck or BW3’s. That was when they were always near college strips and not in strip malls. Wing nights were $.10 and you could serve yourself at a counter and didn’t have to tip for poor service. Now they are an Applebee’s bitch.
As far as the home brewer crack, I’ll put my tap selection against their 8 different kinds of commercial yeast watered down light american standard crap.
yawn….
This is egzactly how We do it at the YankeeBean , keeps the riffraf away.
Smiles.
People need to get a sense of humor… that was funny and we’ve all got our homebrewer friends that make up crazy recipes that don’t turn into drinkable beer… i know i’ve been guilty of that.
Been brewing at home for decades and am a really good cook, so I don’t need their stinking wings _or_ their beer no matter how good or bad it is.
…but I I thought this commercial was HILARIOUS.
I agree with JimBo…y’all are takin’ yourselves too seriously.
Besides, it probably just hit too close to home for a few folks. LOL
I thought it was pretty funny….
Stupidest thing I ever saw. Homebrewers may put whacky things in their beers but none of them are that nutt… Done in 2 min (foam) whatever. I went to BWW once and never had the desire to go back. Food was below average to average. Service sucked as did beer selection.
Does bww not realize that they serve the very craft beer that they are slamming in this commercial. As a home craft brewer I can say I have never had a horrible experience with my brews as they suggest people will by not going to their chain. If craft brewers make such sh177y beers then why are they serving bells and blue moon or founders. They are ignorant for making this commercial and to say the least uneducated on what craft brewing is. Screw you bww, just made another non customer forever.
This WAS NOT and IS NOT paid by the big 3, I work with the guys that made it. I sit next to them and they are having a great time watching the negative comments pour in. The pedantic snobs make their day. We live in a place that takes beer & brats very seriously… not to mention the football. If you read beer forums you will understand how humourless beer people can be. I’ve had Dill pickle beer and rye bread beer and some pretty horrible hybiscus and chai beer at the GABF. This ad is true.

You’re absolutely right. There seems to be a lot more geeky snobbery there than there has been in the past.
The account exec that came up with this campaign will probably get a nice fat raise because the commercial got attention, and people are talking about it. LOL.
1. True, their food and beer selection = average.
2. Lighten up, Francis.
I don’t think Buffalo Wild Wings is a big fan of the homebrew community to begin with…

I go there pretty infrequently any more but the last time I was there I ordered 6 wings and got 5. I mentioned it to the waitress and she told me that is how they are serving them now. Instead of 6 wings it’s called a “snack” and you get “at least 5”. What used to be 12 wings is now a “meal” and you get “at least 10”. So not only do they pour their beer with as much head as they can, they have now figured out a way to sell you less wings for the same price. I’ve given them a lot of business over the years but I’m finally done with the place…
