Haw River Farmhouse Ales to open in North Carolina in early 2013
In six months or so, Woodward won’t have a use for his homemade implements and 15-gallon pots. He and fiancée, Dawnya Bohager, will open Haw River Farmhouse Ales — Alamance County’s first brewery — in Saxapahaw by early 2013. They’ll focus on saison ales, Belgian- and French-style beers that often were brewed in barns and farmhouses due to their happiness at room temperatures. Their hope is to use regional hops and N.C.-grown produce to make unique, great-tasting beers. Their flagship beer will be the Rusted Plow Farmhouse Saison.
