(Green Bay, WI) – Titletown Brewing has at least two things to worry about with its best-selling beer, Hopasaurus Rex. One: it partially relies on Citra hops. The demand for Citra worldwide is outweighing supply to the extent that Titletown can’t produce more of the beer. Two: Steelhead Brewing owns the trademark for the name and sent a cease-and-desist letter to another alleged offender several months ago. That letter elicited a memorable response from Freetail Brewing’s Scott Metzger.

New Brew – Rye the Helles!
This week, we tapped Rye the Helles, a malty golden lager in the Munich Helles (“hell-us”) style but with the addition of malted rye! The rye’s spicy, almost tangy flavors complement those of clean, grainy pilsner malt.
Where’s the beer?
If you’re a regular at Tiletown, you may have noticed our beer selection is a little smaller than usual! Summer is always our busiest time, but summer of 2012 is our busiest summer yet! This of course is great news, but the downside is that you’re drinking beer faster than our brewery can make it! Please bear with us as we suffer the occasional beer outage while we’re catching up from the busy summer. Some specifics:
Dark Helmet ran out the other day. Our new batch is fermenting happily, but because it’s a lager, it won’t be ready to drink until around Labor Day.
Hopasaurus Rex has become our best-selling beer, exceeding even David’s most optimistic sales forecasts. The bad news is we’re short on one of the hop varieties in it (Citra), so we can’t brew it often enough to keep it in stock. We’re going to have “rolling blackouts” of Hopasaurus until approximately Christmas time, when the 2012 hops become available. But don’t worry – to satisfy your lupulust, we’re brewing a 2nd IPA called “C-Minor” which should be on tap in a few weeks.
Had HR on fri, even got a growler to go. That is one awesome brew.
