(Escondido, CA) – The news that we first learned in January is finally coming to fruition after long wait. Barrel-aged versions of Crime and Punishment will be released in bottles next month.
Stone Brewing Co. CEO, Greg Koch, shared the news with Beer Geek Radio this month during an interview at the Pour It Black event. The three labels that were approved back in May are: Crime aged in Scotch Whiskey Barrels, Punishment aged in Scotch Whiskey Barrels and Punishment aged in Bourbon Barrels. Some of the peppers were to be sourced from Stone Farms and some were to be sourced from Greg’s own farm.
Crime is Oak-Aged Double Dry Hopped Lukcy Basartd Ale with Chili Peppers infused. Punishment is Oak-Aged Double Bastard Ale with Chili Peppers infused.
Koch said that they’d be pulling fresh chili peppers from the gardens so they’ll be using some of the Lukcy Basartd and Double Bastard Ale that they just produced to make more Crime and Punishment.
Koch is so enamored with chili pepper-infused beers that he would like to eventually put on an event themed around them in the same vein as Pour It Black and similar events.
