(Lakeland, FL) – Cavalier Distributing quietly opened up its fourth state of business this week, Florida.

The company, best known for opening in Ohio two decades ago, just relocated a small group of staff to Lakeland where work is underway this week to open up a new distributorship with a craft focus. Cavalier also does business in Indiana and most recently, Kentucky, where the company goes by the name, Beer House Distributors.

Ohio sales rep, Ben Eberly, will be heading things up as Sales Manager down in Florida.

Eberly tells BeerPulse that the company will open up with three brands: Sixpoint Brewery, Alltech’s Lexington Brewing (makers of Kentucky Bourbon Ale) and Original Sin Cider.

“We represent Sixpoint in Ohio and Indiana so we had that relationship already,” says Eberly. “When we started putting the feelers out to some of our suppliers that we were coming to Florida, it perked [Sixpoint’s] interest.”

Sixpoint has expanded its portfolio to a number of regions this year including Chicago, Texas, Delaware, Wisconsin and Connecticut.

Since it is only day three of operations and there are a lot of moving parts, Eberly had no details in terms of brands or timing. He did note that all three companies’ products will be available statewide.

Florida is a hotbed for craft beer right now. Out-of-state breweries with product in Florida have been touting big growth numbers and several breweries are in the process of coming into the state or expanding their existing reach.

  2. Couldn’t be happier about the state of craft beer in FL right now. Used to be a joke, but now we’re starting to get some serious play from reputable breweries.

  3. So glad you chose Florida to be part of your expansion. Hope to see your product on store shelves soon.
