Former Nickelodeon actor may be getting into the beer business

(Silver Lake, CA) – Anyone 21 years of age or older may be unlikely to know who Drake Bell is though that could soon change.

On Friday, the actor and musician asked one million fans on Twitter to follow his new project, Silver Lake Brewery. So far, the activity has primarily been based around a late September tasting with a couple photos in which Bell poses with others and bottles of beer at a bar. There is also a photo of a Silver Lake Brewery sign that reads, “Est. 2011.”

The “brewery” itself remains a mystery and it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that this could be just another bar with “Brewery” or “Brewing” misleadingly in the name. Or as fellow actor, Talon Reid’s Facebook status update hints, Silver Lake Brewery may just be a beer brand and not an actual facility.

Whatever Bell has up his sleeve, he has a unique angle on a young demographic. The only problem, as Austin Speth helpfully points out, is that many (if not most) of Bell’s fans can’t legally drink yet. It raises the question: at what age group is Bell marketing the new drink brand?

And why beer over something…trendier? A quick Google search suggests that Bell hasn’t made any passion for beer public up to this point.

Regardless of the fate of the new venture, Bell has an active career as a musician and is teaming up with Joss Stone, Brian Setzer and others on a new album next year. He also plays the voice of Peter Parker in a new Spider-Man cartoon though he may be best known for his work several years ago as a lead on the Nickelodeon program, Drake & Josh.

Bell has a following of nearly 3.5 million people on his Facebook page. He has sent fewer than a dozen updates out in the past six months though with the majority of those stating the number of likes the page has and asking fans to “like this update.”
