Stone Brewing to release coffee IPA in bottles next year as part of collaboration series

stone brewing co. collaborations logo(Escondido, CA) – One of Stone Brewing Co.‘s forthcoming collaborations will be a bit different from the rest.

As BeerFX reports, CEO and Co-Founder, Greg Koch, took part in a Chicago homebrew competition in August called Iron Brew. The grand prize winner would get the opportunity to scale up a homebrew batch to Stone’s 120-barrel system and brew on it. The winner? A coffee IPA that will be made using coffee from Two Brothers Brewing Company’s new coffeehouse. That beer will be bottled, presumably as part of the Collaboration Series, though Stone still has some time to finalize that decision. It didn’t sound as if Two Brothers would become any more involved than that though that’s up to interpretation.

The next collaboration in Stone’s series is The Perfect Crime Smoked Black Saison with Evil Twin and Stillwater Ales which should be released next month.

Speaking of Two Brothers, the company will add a new 7-barrel system at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora before the end of the year. The second place homebrewer will get to brew on that system.

Meanwhile, Randy Mosher, selected the third place winner who won a couple spirits barrels.

The ten-minute documentary style is well worth the time investment with clips featuring Koch, Two Brothers’ Jason Ebel, 5 Rabbit’s Randy Mosher and all the participating homebrewers.
