A major problem in the craft beer industry in Japan, he points out, is that in order to get a beer brewing license, you have to brew at least 60 kiloliters of beer annually. 60 kiloliters of beer translates to just over 500 barrels. Hundreds of U.S. breweries and brewpubs produce less than that annually.
