(Grand Rapids, MI) – Corey Shovein, the West Regional Market Manager for Founders Brewing Co., joined The Beer Genome Project recently for an hour-plus-long chat on all things Founders. Minnesota is the Western-most state where Founders is distributed (save for special circumstances). A few notes…
– Founders has certain employees (all?) sign a non-disclosure agreement regarding Backstage Series beers so no news there.
– They’ve used 2,254 barrels to date (over fifteen years) of barrel-aging and plan to have at least that many in storage in 2013. They only use barrels once and have only had one barrel explode over that time.
– There are 390 barrels full of KBS slated for release in March.
– No sour program coming
– Company just purchased more land to facilitate expansion of operations
– Breakfast Stout will be available through the end of February. All Day IPA returns on March 1st throughout the company’s distribution footprint, some of those states for the first time.
– (Historically, KBS is release on/around March 15th)
Lots of talk around Founders Bolt Cutter Barleywine as well…
