Lazy Magnolia Brewing adds two 60,000-pound grain silos

It was a beautiful blue-sky day in November when two 60,000-pound grain silos arrived at the brewery.

The Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co. expansion project is slowly gaining momentum. Over the summer, we quadrupled our brewing capacity by installing a 60-barrel brew house. To accommodate the expansion, we installed the grain silos last month.

The storage towers were hoisted off tractor-trailers onto a concrete pad. Then hydraulic jacks lifted the silos, hovering them above the concrete pad by inches. Eight burly brewery employees finally stepped in to turn the silos into their final resting position.

The brewery expansion also calls for nearly tripling our floor space in 2013. We currently operate in a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse. Once completed, the expansion will include a new taproom.

The brewery currently uses approximately 100,000 pounds of grain per month. All of our spent grains are donated to area livestock farmers. We make cows happy y’all.
