One of the best ways to analyze this question is to use the SymphonyIRI InfoScan data, which tracks beer sales through off-premise retailers. For the 52 weeks ending September 9, 2012, there were 3,635 SKUs that sold at least one case in the US-Food (aka supermarket) channel. Yet, despite this large number of SKUs, only 26.4% of SKUs contributed to 95% of the total dollars during this period, meaning most SKUs earned minimal revenue
