(Boulder, CO) – The Brewers Association’s fall brewery update announces new brewery openings and closings that it has discovered in recent months (from August 9th to November 28th). Keep in mind that the listings aren’t limited to events but rather discoveries in that timeframe (even if events that happened earlier in the year, for example).

161 openings were discovered with 103 of those being microbreweries, 50 being brewpubs and eight being contract-brewed brands.

California led the way with 21 openings out of the 153 breweries and brewpubs. Colorado had ten openings and Oregon had nine.

Nineteen breweries closed with Michigan Brewing Co. being the most notable of those.

Twelve transitions took place meaning breweries moved, changed names, etc.
