(Greenport, NY) – Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, the first and only craft brewery on the North Fork of Long Island, has won the second annual Mystery IPA Challenge held at Mug’s Ale House in Williamsburg.
Mug’s Ale House is willing to let the people judge the best IPA and reward that brewery!! The day began with 12 breweries; Abita, Bluepoint, Dogfish Head, Empire, Fullsail, Great Divide, Greenport Harbor, Lagunitas, Peak, Sixpoint, Troegs, and Victory all assigned anonymous numbered taps 1-12. Each participant was able to “try em all, try em as often as you’d like, and vote for your favorite”.
Our entry, Otherside IPA, is part of our Project Hoppiness series, and recently became our full time IPA. Brewers DJ Swanson and Greg Doroski note “Otherside IPA is aggressively hoppy without being unbalanced due to it’s blend of various lightly roasted malts.” “As a small brewery from the far end of Long Island it was a privilege just to be included with so many great breweries” says Founder John Liegey “but to win it was just huge.”
Greenport Harbor Brewing Company was opened by John Liegey and Rich Vandenburgh in Greenport in Summer, 2009. Every single drop of beer continues to be made on premise in a renovated firehouse, right next to the old village jail. Guests can come in to see the operation of the brewery, sample the ales and purchase beer by the “growler”.

Good for these guys. I’ve been there to their brewery twice and their tasting room. All quality brews made here
