Surly Brewing plans to keep current facility in addition to new one (video)

Surly Brewing logo(Brooklyn Center, MN) – Surly Brewing plans to expand its operations with a new facility though that won’t mean it will do away with its current one.

Not sure whether this is new news but Brewmaster, Todd Haug, says in a new video around the Pentagram release that they will keep the old facility because the equipment just doesn’t fit in with plans for the new space.

The area where empty cans are stored could be converted to an area for barrel-storage. The packaging area (means where full pallets are kept?) could be converted into a bottling area.

Sounds like they plan to turn it into a Willy Wonka type of operation where the specialty beers come out of Brooklyn Center and the core lineup comes out of the new location, whenever that is up-and-going. BrewDog, as one example, is making a similar move with its two breweries now that it just opened a brand-new facility.

We’ll see.
