
Widow of SF-based journalist and beer columnist, Bill Brand, awarded $900k in settlement
The widow of a longtime Oakland Tribune journalist who was struck and killed by a San Francisco Muni train in 2009 was awarded a $900,000 wrongful death settlement Tuesday. The settlement is one of the largest in recent years for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
Brand’s work was very influential on the “beer notes”-style reporting of then-Beernews.org and eventual curation that we do today at BeerPulse.
