B. Nektar Black Fang Blackberry Session Mead(Ferndale, MI) – B. Nektar Meadery made a couple announcements of note in Wednesday’s email newsletter. More below…

More States in 2013

B. Nektar is now available in Virginia through our distributor, Hop and Wine Beverage.

We will soon be available in California through Wine Warehouse distributing.

Evil Genius discontinued

Due to circumstances outside our control, we are going to discontinue production of Evil Genius temporarily. Our hop oil supplier said that they are out of the extract that we use for bittering, and they have no idea when it will be available again. Unfortunately, they didn’t give us any notice that this was going to happen, and we don’t currently have any other suppliers. We use the hop oil to add the bitterness due to the fact that we do not, nor will not boil our meads. Dry hopping isn’t enough to get the flavor profile right for an IPA style mead. So, unfortunately we are not able to bottle any more batches until the supply problem is resolved. Our stock of Evil Genius is depleted already, and we sadly aren’t going to be able to ship out any more than what we already have in purchase orders. We’re working out what to do with the base mead that is in our tanks. We’re trying to do something really special with it as a one-off.

For this reason, we have decided to push up production of a new mead we’ve been testing. The response has been VERY POSITIVE, and many claim they like it even better than Zombie Killer. It’s called Black Fang. A blackberry, honey, and clove mead. 6% ABV. Pricing will be the same as the Evil Genius. It will be available in both kegs and bottles and will start shipping in the beginning of August.

b nektar zombies take manhattanBlack Fang – coming August 2013

This August, we’re releasing our newest creation, Black Fang. The newest addition to our session mead offerings is a 6% libation with honey, blackberry, clove, and orange zest. It will first be available at our Summer Mead Fest, and then distributed wherever B. Nektar Meads are sold.

The Zombies Take Manhattan: Update

The Zombies Take Manhattan label has finally been approved, and we’ve set the bottle release date for August 3rd at our Summer Mead Fest. Upon release, this mead will be going out to our distributors in all of our markets. We DON’T know which stores will get them but it will likely be the stores that move the most Zombie Killer. 11.25% ABV – $ TBD / 500ml bottle.
