Allagash brews up a lager: Helles Brau Lager coming soon

Allagash Helles Brau Lager(Portland, ME) – A keg collar label approval came in recently for Allagash Helles Brau Lager. According to the beer rating sites, there is no Allagash lager currently (or historically) on file so this may be a first. The beer is already in the tanks according to a brewery tweet. No word yet on availability or whether it will be bottled.

Allagash Brewing is known for its Belgian-style ales so this is quite a detour from the usual.

The brewery has a new brewhouse in place which adds some capacity, perhaps allowing to deviate to making beers that sit in the tank for a while (lagers generally take longer than ales).

In addition, new tanks just arrived for the cellar which will be used for making wild and sour beers as well.

Up next is Confluence which is available once again this month. Fluxus 2013, a porter, ships late next month.
