Sponsored [Paid] Press Release:

(Newton Highlands, MA) – Down The Road Brewery, a startup nanobrewery based just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, has launched a crowdsourced fundraising project on Kickstarter.com. The money raised by the campaign will allow Down The Road to open its first commercial brewing facility, with a three barrel production capacity and a tasting room.

Down The Road has set the goal of the Kickstarter project at $30,000, which will be used to secure a lease for a physical location and the purchase of commercial brewing equipment. Some of the funds will also be spent converting the rental space to make it suitable for brewing.

Donovan Bailey, the founder of Down The Road, decided to try the crowdsourced funding route to raise capital rather than seeking a bank loan because of the promotional value such a campaign can bring, as well as the democratic aspect of the process.

“A Kickstarter campaign gets people interested in the company,” said Bailey, who has been promoting the brewery and Kickstarter campaign at local beer and food festivals. “It will help develop a relationship with customers that you would otherwise have to build from scratch with traditional funding. Not to mention, it’s a lot harder to get a bank loan these days.”

If Down The Road meets its fundraising goal, the plan is to open the brewery and begin selling beer to the general public within six months.

“Once the money is raised, we’ll have to get all our licensing and paperwork sorted out,” said Bailey. “At that point, we’ll be able to begin construction on the new brewery and have high quality Down The Road beers in customers’ hands by the end of 2013.”

The company has a deadline of August 11 to raise the entire $30,000. If it is unsuccessful in attracting enough donors, it will receive no money from Kickstarter, so Bailey has been working hard to promote the project and the brewery at food and beer festivals throughout New England, including the Taste of Marlborough and Hyper-Local Craft Brewfest events in Marlborough and Somerville, respectively.
