Firestone Walker’s high-gravity beers now account for 30% of sales

firestone brewing logo(Paso Robles, CA) – Firestone Walker Brewing co-founder, David Walker, met with Sean and Ryan from 2 Beer Guys (available on the Seacoast Beverage Lab site) this past week. A few notes…

– ~85% of their sales come in California, most of it in Central and Southern CA. They are now distributed in 15+ states.

– High-gravity beers account for ~30% of the portfolio

– Not much of an international player. They send a bit of Pale 31 to Germany and Union Jack to BrewDog for its pubs

– DBA was very first beer they made. Union Jack, a 7.5% ABV beer, is now the top-seller.

– Notes that when the time comes to bottle their sour beers, those will hit the East Coast (presumably the same footprint as their high-gravity beers)
