Miami Artisan: Boston Beer’s incubator, Alchemy and Science, eyes South Beach for project #4

Another search under the United States Patent and Trademark Office website using the keyword "Miami" lists an entry by the name of Miami Artisan. Further probing reveals that A & S stands for Alchemy and Science, which appears to be a collaboration between between Magic Hat Brewing Company founder and former owner Alan Newman and Stacey Steinmetz, who also formerly worked for Magic Hat.

Like Los Angeles, Miami is a city with a relatively low count of local breweries.

  1. “Relatively low count”? How about 2.6 million residents and only 1 brewery (in the boonies). BTW, the A&S brewery won’t be in South Beach. It will be in Wynwood which is a neighborhood just north of downtown Miami. They will be next to another startup brewery which is called Wynwood Brewing Co. It opens in a few weeks.

  2. I just put a qualitative descriptor on it that I felt was accurate. Looking up city data and number of breweries..comparing that to other cities, etc. would take more time than I have. And if Lebron can get away with calling it South Beach, I can (or can’t).

  3. I was just trying to add clarity to the points you made. Thanks for featuring a beer story in Miami/South Beach! They are very rare.
Regarding Lebron, he might need to swallow those words if he doesn’t deliver 😉
