UPDATE from SN: “Folks can find the Beer Camp variety pack beginning early August. We’re going with three beers, four bottles each this year. With our North Carolina brewery not yet online, we’ve been pushing capacity here in Chico. We actually first envisioned two Beer Camp beers in large-format bottles. We’ve found some production pockets, though, shuffled things around and found we could make three happen for a variety pack. They’re solid, hoppy brews, two of which emerged from consumer Beer Camps. This year’s Imperial Red has its own personality, and the style is simply one we enjoy.”
(Chico, CA) – Looking to smother yourself senselessly in hops this summer? To steal a phrase from one of the Sierra Nevada Brewing labels that just came through, this variety pack is not for the “lupulin leery.”
Three labels show that this year’s pack will feature a Belgian-style Black IPA, IPA and Imperial Red Ale.
In the past, the Beer Camp pack has featured recipes from the past with original Beer Camp #’s printed on the neck labels though these neck labels feature new (or recent) Beer Camp #’s: 93, 94 and 95. We don’t yet if Imperial Red Ale is a redux of last year’s featured beer of the same name but the back-of-the-label tasting notes are different.
More details to come…
Notes:
Sierra Nevada Belgian-style Black IPA: This beguiling black IPA takes a tropical detour with a dose of new world hops, featuring lemony Sorachi Ace and fruity Nelson Sauvin varieties. A Belgian yeast works with the exotic hop profile, emphasizing its complex and fruity flavors.
Sierra Nevada IPA: This IPA sacrifices nothing for its drinkability, flexing big time flavor and complexity. The light color disguises the depth of the malt backbone, a pillar that balances the potent whole-cones of the piney-citrus Cascade and tropical fruit-like Citra hops.
Sierra Nevada Imperial Red Ale 2013: Our aggressive Imperial Red Ale is a massive mix of smooth malts and West Coast hops that have no patience for the lupulin leery. This crimson beer starts with caramel-like malt flavor that can’t surpress the assertive, citrusy hop finale.
Looking forward to this, although it would be nice if the fourth option isn’t another hop monster. Any idea on release date?
This indeed in the Beer Camp 95 Imperial Red, a completely different formulation, and quite delicious!
Can’t wait for this to hit my area. Love most everything Sierra Nevada does…
I’ve had all three of these, and anyone that buys this is in for a treat! All 3 are as good as their respective styles get.
