[yellow tail] winemaker will import its beer, Arvo, to the U.S.

ARVO Beer logo[yellow tail] brand wine became the #1 imported wine in the United States ten years ago.

Now a decade later, Casella Family Wines hopes to recreate some of that same success with beer.

Label approval is in for Arvo, Casella’s beer that it launched in Australia last year. At the time, the company had no plans to export it to the U.S. but plans have since changed.

With over 2,500 U.S. breweries, over 1,000 breweries in-planning, and rapid growth in the influx of import brands, it would seem to be now or never for Arvo in the U.S..

On the surface, it doesn’t look like there is too much that is special or out of the ordinary about the Arvo brand which is billed as “The Perfect Australian Lager.” Just another entry to take on Foster’s, Heineken and similar ‘premium’ imported lager brands.

Arvo will be imported through MHW Ltd. out of New York. No timing or other details available yet…
