(Fairfield, NJ) – The latest news from the Garden State Craft Brewers Guild, as excerpted from this week’s newsletter…

The news at Cricket Hill Brewing is mixed emotion for owner Rick Reed. For 12 years Cricket Hill Beers have been brewed with purity in mind. All Cricket Hill Beers have adhered to the Reinheitsgebot with the exception of the constant addition of that 5th ingredient: PASSION.
Well, after all these years Cricket Hill is making a seasonal Pumpkin Ale! There goes the perfect record–but it will be worth it absolutely.
Our Pumpkin Ale is: A classic session-style ale, brewed with select malts, pumpkin, Simcoe and Williamette hops, and a pumpkin-pie blend of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg. Well-balanced, with a light amber color, and smooth finish to enjoy during the cool harvest season. ABV = 5.0, IBU = 19.5
Cricket Hill wants to welcome our newest brewer Mark Tilley . Mark joins our team after spending 2 years with Long Trail Brewery. He and his fiancée will be jetting off to Hawaii on their honeymoon in August. Until then he will be learning how things are done here and hopefully suggesting how things could be done better.
The Tour room will officially open on Thursday August 1st at 4pm. We will be giving tours on Thursdays from 4 till 7, Fridays 4 till 7, and on Saturdays 12 till 4. Come see how a little brewery operates and how some of the finest beers on Earth are made.
Keep an eye out for the release of this years version of our Small Batch Smoked Rye. Those who were lucky enough to get some last year will most certainly be looking for it again this season.
lame. you hold your virtues so long and then break them for one of the bigger crimes in beer…a farty, childish pumpkin ale. Boo.
Why is Reinheitsgebot considered a virtue? It’s an outdated nod to tradition from another country. Breweries are in business to make $$$, and Pumpkin beer sells. All you beer geeks need to stop thinking every brewer needs to be some perfect blend of artist and community leader and get real.
