As reported in the Springfield Republican, two Brimfield Zoning Board of Appeals meetings concerning Tree House were held within the last month, after a neighbor challenged the brewery’s right to operate in the town’s residential-agricultural zone. According to the Republican, town officials have said that as long as Tree House beers include products grown on the property, the brewery is an allowed use. Tree House beers include some ingredients grown onsite including mint, dandelions and fresh, green hops, said Lanier.

  1. The Springfield Republican got it wrong (again ?) ! A neighbor, as is his right, requested a formal letter of determination from the town’s zoning officer as to whether a brewery is an allowed use in that zoning district. The zoning officer (who has recently resigned) agreed that it was an allowed use, but on appeal to the zoning board of appeals, it was unanimously determined that the zoning officer was in error and that a brewery is not an allowed use in that zoning district. Now it’s time for Tree House Brewing Co., LLC to belly up to the bar and move on!

  2. John…you are not being very cool! How are these folks harming you or your home? Are they too loud? Or do you just object on principal??? Why don’t you try to work it out with them instead of trying to ruin their business???
