Goose Island Gillian Wine Barrel Aged Farmhouse Ale label approved

Goose Island Gillian Farmhouse Ale label

(Chicago, IL) – After we reported on Goose Island’s beer calendar for the second half, the company subsequently took down all the new beers from the page. Presumably, that was because release dates for beers can be moving targets.

One of the beers noted there was Goose Island Gillian, a Belgian-style farmhouse ale brewed with strawberries, honey and white pepper and aged in wine barrels. The original release date was October but the brewery hasn’t said anything about it recently.

Now it has federal label approval for 765ml bottles as part of Goose Island’s “Vintage” line.

RateBeer notes it was previously released on draft under the name, “Scully.”

Inspired by an amuse bouche often prepared by the wife of one of our brewers, Scully brings white pepper, strawberry, and honey to a harmonious blend of “mouth amusement”. The ingredients are added at different stages to a Saison, and fermented with a normal Belgian yeast as well as a Champagne yeast.

The beer made its debut during the summer of 2010.

In other Goose Island news, the Clybourn brewpub releases Goose Island Cthulhu Elijah Craig Barrel Imperial Oatmeal Stout on Monday.
