NYC area’s upcoming brewery crop features Staten Island’s first new brewery in 50 years

Elsewhere, a trio of backers that includes Josh Stylman, a tech entrepreneur and angel investor, recently signed a lease in Gowanus, Brooklyn, for a brewpub. Meanwhile, the Bronx Brewery raised $1 million from friends and family and moved into a 14,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor space in the borough, hoping to double output and reach profitability. And in Staten Island, the Flagship Brewing Co. and Staten Island Brewing Co. have also made public plans to open in January, tussling for the title of the borough’s first brewery in 50 years.
