Press Release:

(Downingtown, PA) – Victory® Brewing Company (Victory) is pleased to announce that it will extend its craft beer experience in Chester County, signing a lease with Kennett Square Realty and committing to develop an upscale brewpub, with on-premise brewing and a takeout beer component, in Kennett Square, Pa.

“The announcement is a culmination of nearly a year’s worth of planning and effort, and we couldn’t be more excited than we are today to finally confirm for our excited fans, who have been asking, that yes we are in fact headed to Kennett!” said Matthew Krueger, Vice President of Retail Operations.

The nation’s 26th largest craft brewery, Victory’s second brewpub location will occupy all 8,234 square feet of the bottom floor of a four-story, luxury apartment building in Kennett Realty Group’s latest upscale townhome, apartment and retail community, Magnolia Place. Kennett Realty is owned and operated by the Pia Group, who also own Kaolin Mushroom Farms Inc. and South Mill Mushroom Sales.

“We could not have found a better partner than the Pia family, a group that shared—and are now helping us realize—our vision to bring Victory to Kennett,” Krueger continued, a sentiment echoed by Mike Pia, Jr., developer with the Kennett Realty Group.

“Victory’s mission to provide high quality food, a family-friendly environment, and of course, delicious craft beer, all with a focus on community, ethics and environmental stewardship, made them an ideal partner for this project,” said Pia. “We’re looking forward to the exceptional experience they’ll bring to the community of Magnolia Place and the greater Kennett Square area.”

Called Victory at Magnolia, the location will accommodate a 250-seat restaurant with space for outdoor dining, and boast a chef inspired menu, featuring some of the company’s signature dishes, including their Hand Tossed Pretzel and Wings of Victory. The space also will be equipped with a five-barrel brew house to keep new, site-specific brews—along with Victory’s existing lineup of world-class ales and lagers—flowing.

  1. Considering how bad the food & service is at the Downingtown pub, I don’t have high hopes… and I wonder if they will carry their legendary disdain for the local homebrew community over to the new pub as well?

  2. In contrast to the view above, I’m pretty excited about this. Victory has some of the best beers, not only in the region, but in the rest of the US as well. I am, myself, a home brewer, and I have never gotten a sense of ‘disdain’ from them. In fact, they have a pretty high appreciation for the spirit of home brewing, as that’s how the company started. I would like to see a more imaginative menu at the new location… but with Victory moving to a giant new brewing facility, and opening this first offsite brewpub, I imagine many changes and improvements are on the way. This marriage of Victory and Kennett Square could be good for both parties, and for fans of Victory beer.

  3. I’ve never complained about their beer. Everything else… meh. The food at the old pub was subpar, and once they remodeled it got immeasurably worse. I’ll probably end up stopping by the new pub once they open to check it out, but outside of their typically good-to-great beer I’m not expecting much.

And they might have an appreciation for the spirit of homebrewing, but they don’t actually do anything to support the local homebrewing community. In fact, quite the opposite… and most of the homebrewers in the SE PA / DE / NJ area are well-aware of their lack of support for events, competitions, etc.

  4. I am so excited about this announcement, as a fan of Victory beers since they occupied only a small corner of the old acorn plant (pepperidge farms)

I too am a homebrewer for over 15 years and can appreciate the degree of art involved in the brews. Victory by far my favorite craft brewer and my cellar currently has stock of 6 different high gravity victory beers

Lastly, since I manage the facility next door to this new site and my son is employed at the current brewpub this announcement is long awaited for both of us for the advantageous proximity that it will offer.

Not quite as nice as winning powerball, but a close second.

  5. Funny how different my experience is from Boo’s. I find the BBQ at Victory to be excellent and I do a lot of BBQ at home – the Pastrami Deitrich cannot be beat. Plus just look at the reviews on Yelp and you will get a very different assessment from Boo who seems to have some home brewer envy going on or something driving all that hate. Me, I enjoy those world class Braumeisters and a Deitrich anyway anytime anywhere.
