Sponsored Press Release:
(Long Beach & Seal Beach, CA) – Happening every two years, SourFest starts September 3, 2013, at both Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach and Beachwood BBQ & Brewing Long Beach where we’ll host a week-long tribute to some of the best sour beers available.
As many of you may know our Chef/Owner Gabriel Gordon, a consummate hoarder and collector of fine craft beer, has amassed around a hundred of the most acidic, tart and rare sour beers out there.
For six days every tap (plus a few extra) at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach and Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, will play host to sour beers.
Each night of SourFest 2013 we will host a Brewers Night, paying tribute to some of the best sour beer producers by showcasing kegs from local and nationally recognized breweries with special guests dropping in for good measure.
Tuesday (9/3 – Seal Beach) The Bruery – Our good friends and neighbors from nearby Placentia in Orange County are bringing six of their finest sour beers. Expect a few good folks from The Bruery HQ to be in the house as well.
Wednesday (9/4 – Seal Beach) Firestone Walker Brewing – Barrelworks Director, Jeffers Richardson will be in the house along with a few gems from their sour program.
Thursday (9/5 – Long Beach) Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project – Founder/Brewer/Scientist, Chad Yakobson, will be visiting us all the way from Denver, CO with an incredible line-up of 12 beers.
Friday (9/6 – (Long Beach) Cascade Brewing – Barrel-tender/Blender, Preston Weesner, visits us from Portland, Oregon to discuss the art behind the 12 Cascade sours that will be featured.
Saturday (9/7 – Seal Beach) Shelton Bros. Importers & Friends – While not actually a brewery, Shelton Bros. Distributors has one heck of a sour beer portfolio and has also been an integral part of our planning to make SourFest great – so this is a night to celebrate what they do for sour beer in California.
We will post the master list of sour beers as we get closer to the event but in the mean time here’s a look at the list of a few highlights:
