Flying Dog Roggen, Vineyard Blonde up next in Brewhouse Rarities series

Flying Dog Roggen Ale label(Frederick, MD) – Flying Dog Brewery has received label approval for both Roggen, Vineyard Blonde and Orchard Ale in the Brewhouse Rarities series.

These three draft-only offerings are tentatively scheduled to be released in August, September and October respectively. According to the brewery, “both the Vineyard Blonde and Orchard Ale are dependent on our local agriculture,” so there is currently no beer slated for November.

Flying Dog Cinnamon Porter, for which no label has been approved yet, will finish off the year in both 750ml bottles and draft.

ROGGEN

This traditional German Roggenbier has strong notes of toasted bread and spice with hints of banana and caramel on the nose. On your first sip, spicy clove and banana dominate, but are then soothed with a bready malt sweetness.

Specialty Malts: Rye, Pilsner, Vienna Chocolate Rye, Cara Rye
ABV: 5.7%, 20 IBUs

Flying Dog Vineyard Blonde AleVINEYARD BLONDE

The combination of a Belgian yeast and Vidal Blanc grape juice (from Breaux Vineyards in Purcellville, Virginia) creates a fruity and floral nose with hints of honey, banana and pineapple. Those notes continue in the flavor profile, along with melon, citrus, and malty sweetness. The addition of a champagne yeast during fermentation makes our Vineyard Blonde finish dry and spritzy.

Specialty Ingredients: Vidal Blanc Grape Juice
ABV: 6.4%, IBUs: 25
