River North Whiskey Barrel Aged J. Marie makes return

(Denver, CO) – A year and a half after its first release, River North Brewery is bringing back its original barrel-aged brew.

Whiskey Barrel Aged J. Marie will return Saturday, November 16th at 1pm at the River North Brewery taproom (2401 Blake St, Denver). Individually numbered bombers will be available to go. The brewery expects bottles to sell out quickly, but the beer will be on tap all day.

For this rendition, the brewers aged their signature J. Marie farmhouse ale in a combination of rye and bourbon barrels, then blended the result. Notes of toasted oak, coconut and fruity yeast esters coalesce with a spicy booziness from the rye barrels.

Ninety-one cases were bottled in total, with about two-thirds allotted for distribution throughout the Front Range of Colorado the week after the release.

“We had been waiting for just the right barrels to age the next version of this beer,” said Matt Hess, River North’s founder and head brewer. “J. Marie is the perfect canvas to meld traditional farmhouse ale characters with a robust whiskey barrel warmth.”
