More facts about the beer below, courtesy of a brewery fact sheet…

Rebel IPA was born in the Samuel Adams nanobrewery, or “nano.” It’s a 10-gallon brewery system that operates independently within the walls of our Boston Brewery. In the nano, we’re brewing small batches, so we’re able to experiment with recipes and ingredients on a daily basis.

Some things to note about the beer:

• Rebel IPA is a West Coast-style IPA brewed with five types of American hops from the Pacific Northwest. Each hop imparts unique flavors and aromas to the brew:

– Cascade: Citrus and grapefruit flavor with subtle
floral balance
– Simcoe: Grapefruit peel and pine notes
– Centennial: Citrus flavor with clean resinous notes
– Chinook: American pine character with slight spice note
– Amarillo: Orange, grapefruit, and notes of
tangerine with some sweetness

• Overall, this brew has big citrus and grapefruit aromas along with piney and resinous notes that come through in both the flavor and aroma, all from these West Coast hops. The yeast we use imparts a slight fruity flavor.

• At 45 IBUs, Rebel IPA is not overwhelmingly bitter – it’s not going to scorch your palate. We really focused on big hop aroma and flavor, maximizing what each hop brings to the table, rather than intense bitterness, so this IPA is drinkable and refreshing.

• At 6.5% ABV, Rebel IPA is medium bodied and has a nice, bright copper color.

• This brew was created to honor rebellious Americans such as our namesake patriot Samuel Adams and our founder and brewer, Jim Koch. Jim was a rebel in the craft beer movement, opting to brew full-flavored, high-quality beers when few did. We wanted to create a beer that went against the grain and wasn’t all about bitterness, but instead paid homage to the aromatics
