Changes coming for New Hampshire’s Barley Pub, Massachusetts’ Center Beverage

Barley Pub logoA pair of New England beer-supporting businesses made announcements this month. The Barley Pub is closing though the owner hopes it can be “saved.” Center Beverage, meanwhile, has been sold to new owners. Both are longtime supporters of small breweries. More below.

I gives me great pain to inform you all of the Barley Pub’s closing… For good. Forgive us the spin of last nights post.

The circumstances of our move and the economy have proved too great a burden.

There really are no words…But words there must be.

I think that there is no real way to express our gratitude towards the community of people that for almost 14 years have not just supported us and our families but have BECOME family. It is that family which I will miss the most- bye far.

This venture was always about the adventure. It was about the people that it brought into my life. How lucky am I to have had this great adventure. And for so many years.

Thank you Seacoast New Hampshire, with all my heart and soul.

Is there a chance to save the Barley Pub? I believe it is a strong local brand that needs a new start with an experienced restauranteur. For sale is the brand, the equipment, and a long term lease in this location. I will stay on for the transition or beyond depending on the new owners preferences. This is turn-key. We could be open in a week. Serious inquiries can email me at [email protected].

In other news, Center Beverage announced that it has been sold via email:

This will be my last email as I have sold the store. Center Beverage came to be 40 years ago with my dad, Earl and my Uncle Milt. I worked along with them from the beginning and when they retired in 1990, bought the store.

Through the years, you have become friends, not just customers. Your loyalty has meant everything to me and I hope you know how much you were appreciated.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my four decades here and I can honestly say, that my career here has been rewarding in so many ways.

I will be around next week, so stop in and say hello and meet the new owner Neil. I hope he will enjoy working here as much as I have.

Best Wishes to you for a Happy Holiday Season and Prosperous and Healthy 2014!
