Conservative activist, Phyliss Schlafly, opposes nephew’s Schlafly trademark application
…at least in part due to her name’s connection with that “immoral” liquid called beer. Fascinating stuff here…
It’s rare to see a trademark opposition proceeding where the opposing party is a family member of the applicant. And it is unlikely that there had ever been one where the opposer was the applicant’s 89 year-old aunt. Breweries: Schlafly Beer (Saint Louis Brewery)
Man, hasn’t that old lady caused enough ridiculousness for one life time? On the other side, who else is going to use “Schlafly” for anything? I mean, if I open a brewery and call it “Shplash Leaf,” would that really be such a big deal? I’m not trying to make money off your legacy, I’m just trying to piss off my great aunt, Spillish Shplash Leaf, who made a killing telling women not to work by going on book tours all the time.
