(Washington DC) – Things appear to be moving along a bit more quickly over at the TTB these days.
The agency released its 2013 Alcohol Beverage Sampling Program report five months ahead of the timing of last year’s report.
206 malt beverages were tested randomly out in the field and 40 failed at least one point of compliance for the 2012 report.
239 malt beverages were tested randomly out in the field and 73 failed at least one point of compliance for the 2013 report.
That is a 10% jump in non-compliance from prior year results.
Per the TTB, “The most common compliance issues we identified involved alcohol content that did not match the label and was outside regulatory tolerances, or that placed the product in a different tax class than indicated by the label. These differences can lead to additional tax liability for the industry member.”
