Their beers are crafted in Arabi, Louisiana with a commitment to great taste and growth of the craft brew industry in Greater New Orleans. It all began with Michael Naquin, 40 Arpent’s founder. His childhood experiences of trolling with his Dad, knee-boarding in the 40 Arpent Canal, and watching his older brother experiment with a homebrewing kit, have influenced every aspect of 40 Arpent. With leftovers from his brother’s kit Michael created his first two flagship beers: an Irish Red Bean Ale and a Milk Stout.
40 Arpent’s greatest mission is to brew quality, craft beer for the people that Michael loves: Louisianans. Their mission does not stop there though. Without exposure to homebrewing so many years ago, and other craft brewers who were eager to teach all that they know, starting 40 Arpent would not have been possible. With that in mind, 40 Arpent strives to open its doors to homebrewing enthusiasts and those looking to join the industry. The brewery hopes to become the #1 destination in the south for homebrewer education with plans to offer courses and hold a homebrew competition to celebrate the first year of production. Michael also plans to strive towards sustainable brewing, and he has plans to establish a grain co-op, recycle his grains by sending them to local farms, and even to experiment with growing his own hops. Commitment to craft and community is at the heart of 40 Arpent’s purpose.
