Think our latest Brewhouse Rarities release, Mint Chocolate Stout, was inspired by our love of its ice cream namesake? Think again.
We grow a Chocolate Mint herb in our staff garden, which is where this beer was born.
The first Brewhouse Rarities beer to make its way into 6-packs, this beer is a medium-bodied, low ABV stout with subtle, not-too-sweet notes of peppermint and chocolate. The yeast strain was selected for the creaminess and residual sugar it imparts on the beer. And both peppermint and cocoa were added post-fermentation for a refreshing, minty sweet finish.
The goal was to have an easy-drinking dessert beer that you can have more than one pint of. Here are the specifics:
5.7% ABV
30 IBU
Specialty Malts: Caramel, Chocolate, Black, Roasted Barley, Flaked Oats, Midnight Wheat
Hops: Perle
Specialty Ingredients: Cocoa, peppermint
We also threw in a few sprigs of Chocolate Mint, for good measure.
