Weyerbacher update: Tarte Nouveau, Blasphemy, Nineteen, Viridis Lupulus, Canes Ventici

Weyerbacher Canes Venatici Ale

(Easton, PA) – The latest from Weyerbacher Brewing Co.‘s email newsletter…

Coming Soon!
Viridis Lupulus 2014
The second installment of our “Spring Hop” 750 special release is Viridis Lupulus 2014, which features a different blend of hops than 2013’s debut. Viridis Lupulus 2014 is made with a ridiculous amount of El Dorado, Centennial and Bravo hops. We’ve used a new piece of equipment on this new brew… The Hop Minion! It’s a dry-hopping recirculation pump and special vessel which helps get the most out of the hops added to the fermenters. Viridis Lupulus is a 750ml bottle conditioned beer and is being conditioned now! Look for it in the market in mid-to-late May. Please don’t cellar it – Viridis Lupulus is best consumed fresh!

Canes Venatici
The next installment in the Brewers’ Select Series is a lager! Canes Venatici is a 6.7% ABV maibock-style, which features a beautiful hop called “Mandarina Baveria”. This hop imparts an amazing mandarin orange-esque finish to this otherwise traditionally malty and lightly orange-colored spring lager. The malts used are 100% German: Pilsner, Munich and Vienna. We bittered Canes Venatici with Apollo hops and used Mandarina Baveria for flavor and aroma. Fermentation was with German Bock yeast. This is a limited release on draft only for restaurants and taverns throughout our distribution area and in 12 oz. bottles exclusively at the Visitors Center. Stay tuned for a release date for Canes Venatici!

Blasphemy
Blasphemy, our Quad aged in used bourbon barrels, is back! It’s a bottle-conditioned 750ml cork & cage big beer able to be cellared for whatever duration you’re able to wait. Blasphemy has begun shipping to wholesalers and will debut at the Visitors Center in late May 2014. Be sure to check the What’s On Tap post on weyerbacher.com for up-to-date Visitors Center beer availability!

Weyerbacher Tarte NouveauTarte Nouveau
Tarte Nouveau is a draft-only special release Berlinner Weiss-style beer available now in extremely limited quantities in a number of lucky bars, taverns and restaurants in PA & NJ (see below when it will arrive in the Visitors Center!). Tarte Nouveau is a lactobasilis kettle-soured tart wheat beer weighing in at just 3.9% ABV, which is the epitome of refreshing. Initially, we made Brewers’ Select Zulu in March of 2013 as an experiment in making a new Weyerbacher sour which can be run through draft systems and our packaging equipment without risking any sort of contamination by the funky souring bacteria. Zulu helped to pave the way to Tarte Nouveau, as well as one other brew coming soon – see below!

Nineteen
Weyerbacher is NINETEEN years old now! For the past 8 years, we’ve released a special over-10% ABV beer to celebrate our birthday and this year is no exception! Nineteen will be a sour hybrid – a Tart Mango Wheat Ale! The beer does not yet exist in its final form as it is made of two different beers, which will be blended. Part 1, a sort of super-Berlinner Weisse, is complete. That beer will be combined with part 2, which will be a higher alcohol, mango wheat beer, which we have not yet brewed. More to come on this! We’re shooting for a June 2014 release date.

Visitors Center News
Weyerbacher’s Visitors Center opened 6 days a week (closed Sundays) back in October of 2013. It’s been going so well that we have decided to finally open on Sundays! Yep, that’s right… your weekend just got twice as delicious! We’ll be open noon to 5 pm on Sundays starting on May 18th. We plan to run tours at 1 pm and 3 pm.

New Schedule is as follows:

Sunday: 12 pm – 5 pm with tours at 1 pm and 3 pm (starting May 18th)
Monday – Thursday: 12 pm – 7 pm (no tours)
Friday: 12 pm – 7 pm with a tour at 5 pm
Saturday: 12 pm – 7 pm with tours at 1 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm
Sunday Morning Stout on Tap at the Visitors Center!
To celebrate going to a 7 day schedule, we’re going to tap the only keg of Sunday Morning Stout we have here and make it available for growler fills! Not familiar with Sunday Morning Stout? It’s a bourbon barrel-aged TINY fermented with American ale yeast with locally roasted coffee added. This keg will not last long (there will only be about 28 growlers)! And on the SAME day…

Tarte Nouveau Sampling and Survey at the Visitors Center!
We’re also going to release Tarte Nouveau at the Visitors Center starting on May 18th for sampling only. Along with this bonus sample will be a very, very short survey with which we hope to determine if you, our loyal fans, would want to see it packaged in 12 oz. bottles. Stop in, taste it and let us know what you think!
