Madison, WI – Regional craft brewery Ale Asylum wraps up 2017 by releasing a brand new India Pale Ale: B2D2.

The brewery is referring to this style as a Retro IPA, with strong brand similarities to the classic gaming consoles reminiscent of the early 1980s. The IPA’s motto of “Up/up, down/down, left/right, left/right, B2D2, drink” is referencing the iconic Konami Code, an Easter egg feature that allowed the gamer to enable secret modes on dozens of games. “We designed this logo to strike a chord with other individuals like myself that grew up with two thumbs attached to a controller without a care in the world. Since the beer has a ‘retro’ flavor reminiscent of old school IPA’s, we hope to evoke that same nostalgia and ease of spirit every time someone cracks open a can,” quotes Ale Asylum Co-Founder Otto Dilba. The brewery has timed the launch of B2D2 with the eagerly anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie release on December 15, although the beer itself is named after a long time brewer at Ale Asylum nicknamed “B2”.

B2D2 can be found on draft and in 12 oz. can six-packs via the brewery’s Asylum Seeker at watering holes and craft beer retail establishments of Wisconsin in Illinois.
