Stone Brewing Co. expanding distribution to Alabama soon

(Birmingham, AL) – Stone Brewing Co. is heading to Alabama.

The company has selected International Wines and Craft Beer as a wholesaling partner though we do not know whether other wholesalers have been selected as well. IWCB officially listed Stone among its brands earlier this month. Based in Birmingham, the distributor has a statewide footprint.

Just over a year ago, Alabama approved Founders Brewing’s ‘Bastard’ brand after previously banning it, clearing the way for beers like Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale.

Just before that, the state passed a bill allowing for the sale of large format bottles, another necessity for Stone.

Stone joins Victory Brewing as the second consecutive win for IWCB. Victory announced that news last week.

Timing details are unavailable though BeerPulse has learned that both Stone’s R&R Coconut IPA and Stone’s 17th Anniversary Ale will make their way to the Yellowhammer State.

Barring anything unforeseen, expect an announcement soon. With Nebraska just announced, Alabama joins 39 states; Washington, D.C.; five countries and Puerto Rico.

Stone did not return a request for comment.

  1. @Mitch

Was referring to Founders Backwoods Bastard and Dirt Bastard. Those are the beers that changed how the Alabama ABC viewed the word ‘bastard’ when it came to beer. A year later, Stone can come in without concern about that since precedent is already set.
